Shift-lock function
Fault symptoms
Selector lever locked in position P although the ignition is switched on and the brake pedal depressed.
Diagnostic help
First check that the mechanical interlock functions (key lock and shift-lock) are in working order.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Check the operation of the brake lights.

Check whether the brake lights are in working order.
|
All OK?
Continue with step 2.
Repair or replace the relevant fuse, wiring or brake lights switch. Continue with step 3, final check.
2 Check that the microswitch and solenoid are supplied with current and properly grounded.

Connect a test lamp to pin 5 of female connector H6-8 and a good grounding point.

Depress the brake pedal.
|
The lamp should light up.

Connect a test lamp to battery positive (B+) and pin 6 of female connector H6-8.
|
The lamp should light up.
All OK?
Change the solenoid and microswitch. Continue with step 3, final check.
Repair or replace the appropriate lead. Continue with step 3, final check.
3 Final check

Clear any diagnostic trouble codes.

Perform a check of functionality.
|
All OK?
The steps taken to rectify the fault were correct.
Change the control module.
