Replacement of handbrake cable

Raise the car and remove the rear wheels.
|
2.
|
Remove the two left retaining nuts for the centre heat shield.
|
3.
|
Remove the three retaining screws for the rear heat shield.
|
4.
|
Measure the length of the protruding part of the pull rod from the adjusting nut to the end.
|
5.
|
Remove the adjusting nut.
|
6.
|
Remove the left tank strap.
|
7.
|
Unhook the holder from the tank strap.
|
8.
|
Remove the springs from the levers.
|
9.
|
Remove the rear locating sleeves for the cables and remove the cables from the levers.
|
10.
|
Pull the cables out of the holders on the rear axle.
|
11.
|
Remove the right cable from the mounting under the rear heat shield.
|
12.
|
Remove the cables from the holders behind the cable adjustment.
|
13.
|
Cut off the cable tie securing the cable under the heat shield.
|

Position the cables, pull the cables to the front holders and fit.
|
2.
|
Fit a new cable tie for the cables under the heat shield.
|
3.
|
Fit the cables to the rear locating sleeves and levers.
|
4.
|
Fit the springs to the levers.
|
5.
|
Fit the pull rod adjusting nut to the previously measured thread length.
|
6.
|
Tighten the tank strap.
|
7.
|
Raise the car and tighten the pull rod adjusting nut until the brake starts to act.
|
8.
|
Lower the car, release the handbrake lever and then apply the handbrake. The wheels should be locked at the 3-6th notch.

9.
|
Raise the car and secure the centre heat shield.
|
10.
|
Secure the rear heat shield.
|
11.
|
Fit the rear wheels and tighten the wheel bolts, using a torque wrench.
Tightening torque 110 Nm (81 lbf ft).

12.
|
Lower the car and check the handbrake function.
|
