Sound insulation

Sound insulation

This is a general description that applies in general to all occasions in which sound insulating material is to be added to a cavity. Use foam sealing tape, part no. (16) 8293367 where the original insulating material has been removed.

After application of foam tape, it can take several weeks until it expands completely. Thus, it can be a number of weeks until the sound insulation is working to full capacity.

1. Undo the storage tape around the roll.

2. Cut a piece of foam tape that is the right size and shape. It expands 3-4 times its size.

Note

Be sure to cut the piece in the right shape. Study the space and picture the expansion of the foam tape. Do not make the piece too big (if it is too big, it cannot expand fully).

3. Reseal the foam tape roll with storage tape or a strap.

Note

Make sure the tape or band is tight enough so that the foam tape does not expand in storage.

4. Clean the surface on which the foam tape will be applied. It should be affixed to the largest, flattest surface in the space.

5. Cut the tape on its adhesive side.

6. Affix the adhesive side of the tape to the largest surface in the space.
