Bonnet

Bonnet

The bonnet lock mechanism consists if a spring lock located in the front member and locks when closing against the spring-loaded locking pin.

The bonnet lock mechanism is controlled by a wire from the lever located to the left in the cabin under the instrument panel on a LHD car and to the right on a RHD car.

When the bonnet lock is released, the front of the bonnet is raised by the action of the spring. The bonnet can then be opened by releasing a catch. The lock mechanism is located in the middle and locks onto the front of the radiator member. The catch is located on the right-hand side of the lock mechanism.

The bonnet has a gas lifting spring that holds the bonnet open. The gas spring is located on the left front wing and is attached to ball pins in the body and bonnet.

The hinges, double-sheared and lubrication-free, are fixed to the body and bonnet in a way that allows adjustment.
