Adverse health effects

Component A : May cause mild eye irritation. Prolonged contact with skin may cause temporary irritation.

Component B : Contains non-volatile isocyanate. Heating produces vapours which may irritate the respiratory system and cause coughing, asthmatic breathing and shortness of breath. Respiratory allergy may develop from often repeated inhalation of vapours. May produce allergic reaction in contact with skin.

Adverse environmental effects

The product contains a substance that is very toxic to aquatic organisms and may cause long-term adverse effects to the aquatic environment.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation

The person should rest in fresh air under supervision. In the event of discomfort, seek medical advice and take along this material safety data sheet. In case of persistent throat irritation or coughing, seek medical advice and take along this material safety data sheet.

Skin

Suitable extinguishing media

Bear in mind the presence of other chemicals when selecting extinguishing media. If possible, remove the product from the vicinity of the fire and cool with water.

Specific hazards

Burning produces toxic vapours and corrosive gasses.

Special protective equipment for firefighters

In the event of firefighting, use respiratory equipment with an air supply.

6. SPILLAGE/ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal precautions

A written plan shall exist for sanitation after accidents and leakages. The plan shall be made knows to the employees. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. See section 8 regarding personal protective equipment.

Environmental precautions

Do not empty into drains, onto land or in watercourses.

Methods for cleaning up

Scrape up spillages or remove with absorbent material. Neutralise spillages of the isocyanate component using a decontaminating agent such as a mixture of 50% ethanol, 5% concentrated ammoniac and 45% water. Waste or spillage containing the thermosetting plastic component or partially cured plastic must be dealt with immediately and placed in a special waste container. The container must have a lid and be clearly marked with the text "Harmful waste" and a text briefly describing the contents and precautionary measures. Refer to section 13 for disposal considerations.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Advice for safe handling

The handling of the thermosetting plastic component must be planned and carried out so that adequate safety precautions are taken preventing heath risks and accidents. Scrupulous personal hygiene is essential. Wash hands and contaminated areas with soap and water before leaving the workplace. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Technical measures

Use working methods that minimize contact. Technical aids: Use disposable equipment as far as possible (rags, brushes, pallet knives, etc.).
