Engine oil and oil filter

Check for oil leakage

Check that no oil leakage occurs at the top or bottom of the engine and gearbox or in the power steering's hydraulic system.

Engine oil

Change oil. Fill to the MAX mark. The difference between the marks corresponds to 1 litre (1.05 qts).

Check the level when the engine is warm, 2-5 after turning off the engine.

Oil capacity

B204, B234, B235: 4,0 litres (4.2 qts), including filter

Oil type

Saab Turbo motor oil or motor oil to API SG/SH/SJ and ACEA A2-96/A3-96 specifications, including the discontinued CCMC G4/G5 specification.

We advise against the use of additional additives.

Viscosity:

SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40. On markets where these viscosities are not available, 15W-40 may be used.

At constant temperatures of -20°C (-4°F) or below, use 5W-30 or 5W-40. These must be fully synthetic or synthetic based.

At constant temperatures of +15°C (+59°F) or above, use 15W-50 or 20W-50.

If 5W oils are used, they must be of fully-synthetic or synthetic-based type.

In markets where the only 5W oil obtainable is of mineral type, such oil may be used provided that it meets the grades specified above.
