Fuel filter


Change the fuel filter and sealing rings at the hose nipples. The fuel filter is located adjacent to the fuel tank.

Warning

Removing the fuel filter entails dismantling part of the car's fuel system. Therefore, pay attention to the following points:

Maintain good ventilation! If an approved ventilation system for fuel vapour is available, make sure it is used.

Used protective gloves! Prolonged contact with fuel can cause skin irritation.

Keep a class BE fire extinguisher nearby! Watch out for sparks in connection with breaking power circuits, short-circuits, for example.

Smoking is strictly prohibited.

Use protective goggles.


Cars with diesel engine



1. Remove the protective cover in front of the fuel filter. Carefully tap to remove the filoter holder from the bracket. Use a drift.

2. Carefully pinch the soft section of the fuel lines with pinch-off pliers 30 07 739.

3. Loosen the drain plug at the bottom of the filter holder and the filter housing upper screw. Drain the filter.

4. Loosen the upper screw completely and remove the filter with the filter housing.


5. Dismantle the filter and clean the filter housing.

6. Fit in reverse order.

7. Start the engine and check for system leaks. If the engine stops due to air in the system, bleed the system.
