Radiator fan

To remove


1. Cover the wings and check any radio codes.

2. Remove the engine cover.


3. Make a note of the radio code, if applicable, and remove the battery.

4. Loosen the battery tray and move it aside.

5. Disconnect the hoses to the throttle body and charge air pipe.

6. Open then close the coolant expansion tank cap to release any pressure in the cooling system.

7. Clamp 30 07 739 Pinch-off pliers on the EGR valve coolant hoses.


8. Unplug the EGR valve and remove the valve.

9. Remove the power steering fluid pipe from the brackets on the radiator crossmember and below the battery tray. Release the clips and remove the bracket from the radiator crossmember.


10. Detach the vent hose from the radiator crossmember and move it to one side.

11. Unplug the radiator fan connector and release the connector from the fan cowling.

12. Loosen the power steering fluid reservoir from the bracket and move aside the reservoir and pipe.

13. Cut the cable tie and remove the fan cowling.

Important

Check that nothing is loose or damaged.



14. Remove the nuts that secure the radiator fan to the fan cowling, release the resistor, remove the connectors from the fan cowling and remove the fan.


To fit


1. Fit the radiator fan into position in the fan cowling and tighten down with the nuts.


2. Press the connectors on to the fan cowling and fit the resistor.

3. Fit the fan cowling to the radiator and tighten the bolts.

Important

Check that nothing is loose or damaged.


4. Fixate the lower coolant hose to the fan cowling.

5. Fit the power steering fluid pipe bracket to the radiator crossmember and fixate the pipe. Secure the upper coolant hose to the steering fluid pipe.


6. Refit the power steering fluid reservoir.

7. Plug in the radiator fan connector.

8. Reconnect the vent hose and fixate it to the radiator crossmember.

9. Fit the EGR valve with a new O-ring. Connect in the hoses and remove the pinch-off pliers.


10. Plug in the EGR valve.

11. Connect the hoses to the charge air pipe and throttle body.


12. Refit the battery tray.

13. Fit and connect the battery.

14. Adjust the clock in the car and press 5 times on the remote control lock/unlock button. Enter the radio code, if applicable.

15. Fit the engine cover.
