Interior lighting
Interior lighting |
The car's interior lighting is switched on/off automatically or manually depending on the position of the interior lighting switch (1-0-2). The switch has the following functions:
1 - Interior lighting on.
0 - Automatic control on/off
2 - Interior lighting off.
The switch controls the roof lamps (50F and 50C) and the mirror lighting (359RH and 359LH).
Manual (position 1 or 2)
For the interior lighting, +30 voltage is supplied via fuse 35 to pin 46 on the control module. Pin 23 on the control module is connected to the lighting switch (53).• |
When the switch is in position 1, all the interior lighting is powered via the switch (53) from pin 1.
|
• |
When the switch is in position 2, no power is supplied to the interior lighting.
|
Automatic (position 0)
When the switch is in position 0, +30 voltage for the interior lighting is supplied to DICE pin 24 via fuse 4. DICE obtains information from TWICE via the bus about the status of the doors (OPEN/CLOSED; LOCKED/UNLOCKED) and ignition switch (OFF/ON/ST). Based on the information received, DICE turns the interior lighting on or off.The +30 voltage is supplied/not supplied from pin 1 on the switch (53), pin 23 and pin 70 on DICE to the interior lamps (50F, 50C, 359RH and 359LH).
DICE monitors the interior lighting circuit internally by measuring the current through and voltage across a resistor inside the control module on pin 23. If the voltage/current ratio changes, DICE reacts. In the event of overloading, the control module switches the output off.
Important | ||
All lamp outlets are protected from short circuiting. |
||
Do not change to bulbs with a higher output as the outlets will not withstand overloading. |
||
If the output is too high, the short circuiting protection is broken immediately. |
||
Automatic (position 0) |
When the interior lighting switch is in position 0, the lighting is always switched off/on with a fading of the light intensity. The fade in and fade out are linear for a duration of 2 seconds.
With the switch in position 0 (automatic function), the interior lighting functions as follows:
1. |
When the driver's door is unlocked, using the remote control or key, the interior lighting is switched on for 30 seconds if the ignition switch is in the LOCK position and the key is removed.
|
2. |
If one or more doors are open, when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position and the key is removed, the interior lighting is turned on for 20 minutes. It is then switched off automatically.
|
3. |
If one or more doors are left open, with the ignition switch in the ON position (+15 and +54), the interior lighting is turned on until all doors are closed.
|
5. |
If the ignition is switched ON (+15 and +54) when the interior lighting is on, the lighting will be switched off immediately. The same thing applies when the car is locked using the remote control or key.
|
6. |
When the car key is removed from the ignition the interior lighting will go on for 30 seconds. The light will fade in (brightness increases) during the first 2 seconds.
|
Diagnosis |
The output has an overload protection that shuts the output off if the load is too high. This activates DTC B1215.
DTCs are not generated if the voltage is below 11V, during diagnostic communication or open circuit.
Note | ||
When there is a fault in the interior lighting circuit, DTC B1220 can be generated (normally B1215) because the roof lamp (50F) is not electrically insulated from the reading and mirror lighting. |
