Washer system, rear window
Washer system, rear window |
The washer system consists of a washer pump and a button on the windscreen wiper switch. Washing starts if the button on the switch is pressed (return-spring).
The washer pump is of the centrifugal type. It supplies the windscreen, headlamps and rear window with washer fluid by polarity inversion. The fluid enters the middle of the pump, and the shape of the pump shaft and the polarity of the voltage determine whether the fluid is pumped to the rear or front (windscreen and headlamps).
The washer pump pumps the washer fluid in the hose to the nozzle which directs a jet of fluid on to selected points on the rear window.
There is a check valve in the hose that prevents the hose from emptying between washings.
When the washer has been activated, DICE starts the rear window wiper. It continues to wipe for a further 5 seconds after the washer has ceased.
After 16 seconds, the wiper makes an additional stroke.
If the switch (61a) for rear window washing is closed, current will be supplied to the relay (432) for rear window washing from pin 2 of the switch (61a). Current is supplied to DICE pin 42 from pin 2 of the switch (61a). DICE pin 27 grounds pin 5 so that the relay (83a) operates and the motor (62R) starts wiper operation. The relay (83a) is grounded for 5 seconds after the switch (61a) has been pressed.
