CHECK GEARBOX warning lamp

CHECK GEARBOX warning lamp

When a fault arises in the automatic transmission or TCM control module, the CHECK GEARBOX warning lamp in the MIU lights up. In the event of less serious faults the CHECK GEARBOX lamp is lit during the second driving cycle. The diagnostic trouble code is however generated during the first driving cycle. In the event of a fault, the TCM sends “CHECK GEARBOX ON” over the bus. The MIU control module grounds the output of the CHECK GEARBOX warning lamp, which thus lights. When the TCM sends the message “CHECK GEARBOX OFF”, the lamp is extinguished. When the ignition is turned on, the TCM turns the lamp on for 3 seconds, and if no fault is detected, the lamp then extinguishes.
