Gear lever knob

To remove

1. Remove the gear lever as described in .

2. Mount the gear lever in a vice.

3. Attach tape around the carrier, directly under the knob, to prevent it being damaged or scratched when it is being removed.

4. Place a 32 mm open-ended spanner under the edge of the knob. Carefully tap the hammer from underneath using a hammer. Lift off the knob and carrier.

A gear lever knob which has been removed must not be refitted but replaced with a new one.

2. Insert the spring into the carrier.

3. Check that the stop lug is turned to the right when the numbers on the knob are correctly positioned and then press the knob onto the carrier.

4. Check that the gaiter is on the carrier.

5. Make sure that the gate positions marked on the knob and the carrier stop lug are correctly positioned in relation to the bearing hole at the bottom of the gear lever (so that the gate position markings are correctly positioned in the car).
