Cars affected

Saab 9-3 CV M03 within VIN range 37003500-37004326

Background

The B-pillar cover has a metal core which can scrape against the rear side window weatherstrip on the right-hand side of the car. Marks appear when the window is raised/lowered.

In case of complaints from customers, proceed as follows.

Symptom description

Scrape marks on rear side window weatherstrip.

Parts required

51 16 629 Side window with front seal, RH

Procedure

1. Open the front right door and raise the rear side window.

2. Carefully bend the upper edge of the B-pillar cover outwards. Check the gap between the weatherstrip and the cover.

If the size of the gap is less than 1 mm, proceed to step 4.

If the size of the gap exceeds 1 mm, proceed to step 3.

3. Bend out the upper edge of the cover and lower the window in short movements (2-3 cm at a time). Check for contact between the weatherstrip and the cover's metal core; both components should not be tightly fitted against one another. If resistance between the components is excessive, proceed to step 4. Otherwise, proceed to step 5.

4. Lower the rear side window completely. Carefully bend out the metal core with pliers so that the upper edge protrudes approximately 1 mm outwards.

5. Replace the side window according to WIS - 9-3 - Body - Adjustment, replacement - Glass, windows and mirrors - Rear side window with window lift mechanism, CV.

6. Check the gap between the weatherstrip and the cover according to steps 2 and 3.

7. Check window alignment and operation by raising and lowering the window a few times. Check door alignment by opening and closing the door a few times. Adjust if necessary.
