Upholstery, backrest

To remove



1. Remove the front seat from the car, see Front seat .

Remove the seat side panels, see Seat side panel .

2. Cut off the cable tie securing the plastic cover and remove the cover on the inner side of the seat, 1 screw.

3. Undo the straps holding the backrest upholstery at the bottom.

Unplug the connector under the seat.

Cut the relevant binding tie.

4. Release the bottom edge of the upholstery strips and feed the cables out through the hole.


5. Pull out the cardboard from the backrest upholstery.

6. Undo the rear of the backrest upholstery by releasing the upholstery strips along the sides and folding back.


7. Release the upholstery strips along the back edge of the backrest frame.

8. Remove the lumber support adjustment knob (use a large screwdriver to carefully prise it off).

9. Unhook the lower part of the upholstery strip and remove the 2 wire rods that hold the bottom edge of the backrest upholstery.


10. Remove the felt trim on the sides of the backrest joint by detaching the felt from the hooks in the Pullmaflex flexible netting.

11. Unplug the relevant connectors under the seat.

Cut the relevant binding tie.

12. Detach the 4 upholstery hooks and the 2 hooks that hold the airbag module cover.


13. Detach the top 3 hooks which hold the backrest upholstery to the foam cushion.

14. Remove the head restraint.


15. Remove the head restraint guide sleeves by pressing the catch in from the front.

Note the guide sleeve positions; left and right are different.


16. Remove the seat upholstery.


To fit


1. Pull the backrest upholstery into place and fit to the foam cushion.


Note

Only Saab original upholstery may be used. The backrest upholstery must not be repaired. It is important for the function of the side air bag.


2. Fit the top 3 hooks that hold the backrest upholstery to the foam cushion.

3. Refit the head restraint guide sleeves.

Note the guide sleeve positions; left and right are different.


4. Refit the head restraint.

5. Refit the 4 upholstery hooks. Fit the airbag module cover and its hooks.


6. Fit the upholstery to the foam cushion, and position the wiring harness and connector correctly.

7. Fit the upholstery to the fabric pockets on the backrest sides. Attach the felt trim to the hooks provided in the Pullmaflex flexible netting.

8. Refit the 2 wire rods that hold the bottom edge of the backrest upholstery and secure the plastic strips.

9. Replace the upholstery strips along the back edge of the backrest frame.

10. Refit the back of the backrest upholstery by replacing the upholstery strips along the sides.

11. Insert the cardboard in the backrest upholstery.


12. Feed the cables through the hole and refit the upholstery strips on the underside.

13. Fasten the straps on the bottom of the backrest upholstery under the seat cushion.

Plug in the connectors and fit a new cable tie.


14. Refit the knob for the lumbar support adjustment.

15. Fit the plastic cover on the inside of the seat, 1 screw and a new cable tie (fit the cable tie so that the head is positioned downwards).
