Electrically adjustable passenger seat not working

Read the instructions below then start the fault diagnostic procedure.

Symptom: The seat can be operated irrespective of the ignition key position or door position. The battery discharges in the end. The seat cannot be operated in one or more directions.

Fault symptoms


The seat can be operated irrespective of the ignition key position or door position. The battery discharges in the end.

The seat cannot be operated in one or more directions.


Conditions

Faulty relay (446P) or fault in wiring harness.

Faulty relay (446P) or break or short-circuit in wiring harness.

Diagnostic help

The control module output can be activated using the diagnostic tool.

If the seat can be operated in one or more directions, the fault probably lies in the switch (357P), motors or wiring harness.

If the seat cannot be operated, the fault probably lies in the relay (446), switch (357P) or wiring harness. Also check fuse 11.

Check the wiring

Jiggle the wiring harness in several places and in various directions to detect intermittent open circuits and short circuits in the wiring harness. Watch the multimeter, diagnostic tool and test lamp during the check.
