Steps to reconnect broken service programe links in WIS
Saab 9-3 (9440) M03
Service programmes in WIS 9-3 (9440) 2002-1 include links to more detailed information about the jobs to do in every item. The links to Battery check and Recommended tyre pressures are broken. This means that it not is possible to reach the actual information by clicking the link.
To solve the problem there are some download files on IRIS.
1.
Access the international IRIS with your user name and password.
2.
Under News, click on Wis 9-3 (9440) 2002-1 document link fix and select Wis document link fix.txt to get information about the fix. Make a print out of the document.
3.
Click on Wis document link fix.zip and save the file on the disc. Note where the file is stored.
4.
Follow the instructions in the printed document.
IRIS
We keep the IRIS updated with the latest files.Regulary log in for checking that your computers are updated.
It is also possible to find the information in the following pathes.
WIS - Electrical System - Charging system - Adjustment/Replacement - Battery check
and
WIS - Suspension, wheels - Wheels and tyres - Technical data - Recommended tyre pressures.
Battery check
This instruction is an extraction from WIS.
Note
Low battery electrolyte level is indicated by white showing through the indicator window. A sufficient electrolyte level is indicated by black showing through the indicator window.
1.
Remove the battery cover.
2.
Remove the cover from the Underhood Electrical Centre (UEC).
3.
Remove fuses 30 and 37. Wait at least 20 seconds before connecting the battery tester.
4.
Connect the red cable clip to the positive terminal (+). (Reversed polarity will not damage the analyser.)
5.
Connect the black cable clip to the negative terminal (-). Ensure that the cable clips make as good contact as possible.
Note
Once both clips are connected, the analyser is activated automatically and starts a self-test. If there is a fault in the analyser, the text “INTERNAL ERROR SERVICE REQUIRED” is displayed.
Note
Use the arrow keys to select the correct alternative in each menu. Use the ENTER key to confirm your selections. The selections made are saved as menu suggestions to be used the next time the analyser is activated.
6.
Under “SELECT TEST”, select whether the battery is connected to the vehicle electrical system (“IN VEHICLE”) or not (“OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE”). Select (“IN VEHICLE”) as the battery is connected in the vehicle.
7.
Under “BATTERY TYPE”, select whether the battery is factory-fitted (“SAAB BATTERY”) or a replacement battery from another manufacturer (“NON-SAAB”).
8.
Confirm with “SELECT TEST BY SAE(A)” if the battery's cold starting current is specified according to CCA (SAE) standard. For batteries specified according to DIN standard, select and confirm with “SELECT TEST BY DIN (A)”.
Important
The DIN standard can be selected when the analyser is used to test replacement batteries that are not specified according to SAE. CCA (SAE) is always applicable for Saab's factory-fitted batteries.
9.
Enter the cold starting current for the battery in question.
For Saab factory-fitted batteries, this text is found in capital letters on a label affixed to the top of the battery.
After selecting and confirming a value, the actual battery test will start automatically.“SELECT MODE BEFORE CHARGE”“SELECT MODE AFTER CHARGE”Under certain voltage and conductance conditions, the analyser will require information on whether the test is being performed before or after the battery has been charged in order to assess it correctly. After answering the question(s), the analyser will display the result of the test in one of the following ways:
Message
Signification
GOOD BATTERY
Fully charged. No action needed.
GOOD - RECHARGE
Charge the battery, connect and put into operation.
CHARGE & TEST
Charge the battery and then repeat the test. If the message is displayed after charging - replace the battery.
REPLACE BATTERY
Replace the battery.
BAD CELL-REPLACE
Replace the battery.
When the messages “GOOD BATTERY” and “GOOD - RECHARGE” are shown, the display alternates between the message and the degree of charge in steps of 25%, e.g. “STATE OF CHARGE: 0-25%”. This value provides a clear indication of the current state of the battery.
10.
If the analyser indicates the battery needs to be replaced within the warranty period, note the test code. This test code should be included on the warranty claim (more information is available under Warranty policy).
Important
Test the replacement battery also with Battery Analyser 311 before fitting it in the car. If the cold starting current of the replacement battery is not specified according to SAE standard, the test can be performed to DIN standard as in step 8 above.
12.
Fit the cover of the Underhood Electrical Centre (UEC).
13.
Fit the battery cover.

Rekommended tyre pressure
This information is an extraction from WIS.
Recommended tyre pressures Measuring tyre pressures should normally be carried out on cold tyres which means that the tyres have the same temperature as ambient temperature.
The pressure rises in hot tyres (such as with fast motorway driving), and respectively falls with falling temperature. The following values for air pressure apply at 20
°
C. For each 10
°
C rise the air pressure falls by 0.1 bar (2 psi).
For each reduction in the number of passengers the air pressure can be reduced by 0.1 bar. Maximum load = 5 persons and luggage.
