To remove |
1. |
Raise the car and remove the front right wheel.

2. |
Remove the right-hand wing liner.
|
3. |
Remove the spoiler shield. Disconnect the headlight washer hose and unplug and remove the connector.
|
4. |
Mark the belt's direction of rotation. Detension the belt tensioner and remove the poly-V-belt.
|
5. |
Remove the crankshaft pulley with the help of
83 95 360 Holding tool, crankshaft pulley
. Bend up the sheet metal sheet lug and prise down the engine slightly using a pry bar to remove the bolt.

6. |
Prise out the seal with a screwdriver, making sure not to damage the sealing surfaces.

To fit |
1. |
Clean the sealing surfaces.
|
2. |
Lubricate the new sealing ring with acid-free vaseline and position it in
83 95 410 Fitting tools, front crankshaft seal
.
|
3. |
Position the sealing ring with protective sleeve and fitting tool on the crankshaft. Press in the sealing ring using the bolt for the crankshaft belt pulley until it is flush with the timing cover. Remove the tool.

4. |
Fit the crankshaft belt pulley with a new bolt. Use
83 95 360 Holding tool, crankshaft pulley
. Prise down the engine slightly using a pry bar to insert the bolt. Bend the sheet metal lug back into place and spray it with
30 15 948 Cavity fluid
to prevent rust damage.
Tightening torque 150 Nm + 45° (111 lbf ft + 45°) |
5. |
Fit the poly-V-belt in the direction of rotation marked. Check the position of the belt on all the pulleys.

6. |
Fit the spoiler shield. Connect the headlight washer hose and plug in and fit the connector.
|
7. |
Fit the wing liner.
|
8. |
Fit the wheel. Refer to
Wheels
.
Tightening torque 110 Nm (81 lbf ft) |
9. |
Lower the car. Check the engine oil level and top up if necessary.
