EGR solenoid unit (606)
| Main task |
The engine is equipped with a water-cooled, electrically controlled EGR valve that leads some of the engine exhaust to the induction pipe. The exhaust lowers the temperature in the combustion chamber, thereby reducing build-up of nitrous oxide. The EGR valve has its own processor that always knows how much the valve is open. This makes control time very short when ECM sends a request for a specific EGR ratio. This also means that changes in the valve opening position occur quickly, all to keep combustion temperature as low as possible.
