To check |
If the basic charge pressure cannot be altered, check as follows:
1. |
Disconnect the diaphragm unit vacuum hose.
|
2. |
Connect
30 14 883 Pressure/vacuum pump
to the hose and create a negative pressure. Check that the control arm on the diaphragm unit moves.
|
3. |
Check that the negative pressure does not change for at least 30 seconds.
|
4. |
Remove the equipment and connect the vacuum hose.
|
If the control arm does not move, disconnect it from the turbocharger wastegate and check again.
If the diaphragm unit requires changing, see the method described below:
To remove |
1. |
Remove the clip and lift the control rod off the arm. Use 83 94 538 Circlip tool.

2. |
Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum box.
|
3. |
Remove the diaphragm unit.

To fit |
1. |
Grease the control arm pin and fit the vacuum box to the mounting.
Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 lbf ft). |
2. |
Connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum box.
|
3. |
Adjust the control arm and refit the clip. Refer to

.
