Cars in stock must be rectified before delivery.

A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab garage as soon as possible to have the fault rectified.

Cars affected

Saab 9-3 (9440) M03 with engine variant B207E/L (150/175 hp), with automatic transmission and within Vehicle Identification Number range 31000001-31027500

Saab 9-3 (9440) M03 with engine variant B207R (210 hp), with automatic transmission and within Vehicle Identification Number range 31000001-31064389

Background

On cars with engine variant B207E/L (150/175 hp) the engine speed can decrease so much that in some cases the engine stops. This occurs in connection with accelerator pedal release during driving.

On cars with engine variant B207R (210 hp), in some cases, the engine can stop or have uneven engine speed. This can occur if the accelerator pedal is rapidly depressed and released in a stationary car with the selector lever in position D and with the engine running at idling speed.

Checking the modification identity plate (not US/CA)

Before proceeding, check box B2 of the modification identity plate. If the box is not marked, continue as follows:

Procedure

Install the new software according to the following table. Follow the instructions in WIS - General - TIS2000 - Technical description - Service Programming System.

Marking the modification identity plate (not US/CA)

On completion of the necessary procedure, box B2 of the modification identity plate must be marked. If the work was carried out by the importer, mark the box with a "7". If carried out by a dealer, mark it with an "8".
