Cars in stock must be rectified before delivery.

A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab garage as soon as possible to have the fault rectified.

Cars affected

Saab 9-3 (9440) M03 with Xenon lamps up to and including VIN 31005409.

Background

Cables in the driver's side headlamp may be damaged by a metal pin.

Symptom description

The automatic headlamp beam adjustment does not work and an error message is displayed in SID.

Procedure

Before proceeding, check the box A4 on the modification identity plate. Proceed as follows if the box is not marked:

The procedure is carried out on the left-hand side for left-hand drive cars, and on the right-hand side for right-hand drive cars.


1. Turn the ignition key to the LOCK position.

2. Open the bonnet.

3. LHD: Lift the coolant hose to the side and remove the battery cover.


4. LHD: Remove the washer fluid reservoir filler pipe.


5. LHD: Remove the coolant pipe from the lower battery cover.

6. LHD (petrol-engined cars): Press in the lock hook and move aside away the main fuse box in front of the battery.

7. LHD (diesel-engined cars): Press in the lock hook and move aside the power steering fluid reservoir.


8. Remove the Xenon lamp's protective cover.


9. Remove the ignition transformer connector.

10. Remove the ignition transformer.

11. LHD: Fit the heat shrinkable sleeving on the metal pin.


12. RHD: Fit the heat shrinkable sleeving on the metal pin.


13. Fit the ignition transformer.


14. Connect the ignition transformer connector.

15. Fit the Xenon lamp's protective cover.

16. LHD (diesel-engined cars): Fit the power steering fluid reservoir.


17. LHD (petrol-engined cars): Fit the main fuse box.


18. LHD: Fit the coolant pipe to the lower battery cover.

19. LHD: Fit the washer fluid reservoir filler pipe.

20. LHD: Fit the battery cover.


21. LHD: Fit the coolant hose.

22. Close the bonnet.


Marking the modification identity plate

When the work has been completed, the modification identity plate should be marked in box A4. If the work has been carried out by an importer, mark the box with the digit "7" or with an "8" if the work is done by a dealer.
