Differential

Differential

The differential allows the inside wheel to rotate faster than the inside wheel during cornering. The small differential pinions consequently rotate around the differential shaft while the larger differential pinions are rotating at different speeds and are stationary for driving straight ahead while the large differential pinions are rotating at the same speed. Power is conveyed from the final drive pinion to the final drive gear mounted inside the differential housing. From the differential housing, the power passes via the small differential pinions to the large ones, which are attached to the inner drive flanges and intermediate shaft with splines. From here, the power passes through the drive shafts to the wheels.
