Power steering return line, RHD

Power steering return line, RHD

Important

Scrupulous cleanliness must always be observed during all work with hydraulic components.


To remove


1. Diesel engine: Raise the car.

2. Diesel engine: Remove the lower engine cover.


3. Diesel engine: Lower the car to the floor.

4. Diesel engine: Remove the battery cover and the radiator pipe.


5. Place a suitable receptacle under the steering gear.

6. Remove the pipe from the bracket on top of the steering gear. Leave the screw and clamp in place.


Petrol engine: Remove the air filter cover with the hose and unplug the electrical connection.

7. Disconnect the delivery line connection from the steering gear.

8. Disconnect the return line from the steering gear.

9. Diesel engine: Open the cap of power steering fluid reservoir. Detach and lift up the reservoir with its bracket and let the fluid run out into the receptacle.


10. Remove the line from the reservoir.

11. Remove the line from the clasps.


12. Lift up the line.


To fit


1. Fit the line in place.

Attach the return line to the steering gear. Make sure the O-ring is correctly seated.

Important

Make sure that the return line (line with the short nut) is connected to the lower of the two connections.

The steering gear will be destroyed if the lines are mixed up!


Tightening torque 28 Nm (21 lbf ft)

2. Attach the delivery line with a new O-ring to the steering gear.

Tightening torque 28 Nm (21 lbf ft)


Petrol engine: Fit the air filter cover with the hose and plug in the connector.

3. Fit the pipe to the bracket on top of the steering gear.

4. Fit the pipe and the hose clip to the power steering fluid reservoir.


5. Diesel engine: Fit the reservoir with bracket to the battery tray.

6. Fit the hose into the clasps.

7. Fill with fluid and bleed the power steering system . Check for leaks.

8. Diesel engine: Fit the radiator pipe and the battery cover.


9. Diesel engine: Raise the car, wipe up any fluid spill and fit the lower engine cover.


10. Diesel engine: Lower the car to the floor.
