Cars already delivered must be rectified in connection with a scheduled visit to the garage for service or repairs.

Background

Improper A-pillar sealing carried out during production may cause water leakage.

Symptom description

Water leakage on the inside of the A-pillar



Parts required

16 - 30 07 085 Teroson Terostat 1K-PUR (enough for approx. 10 cars)

Procedure

The procedure must be performed on both sides. The following method shows the left-hand side; the right-hand side should be completed in a corresponding manner.


1. Remove the side windscreen moulding.


2. Loosen the upper windscreen weatherstrip, approx. 10 cm.


3. Mask with tape as shown in the illustration.


4. Make sure the area is dry. Apply the sealing compound around the corner, approx. 5 cm on both sides of the corner. Make sure the sealing compound is applied evenly.

Note

The opening in the accompanying nozzle is too large. For better access, use a slightly smaller nozzle.



5. Remove the tape. Clean if necessary.

6. Fit the upper windscreen weatherstrip.

7. Fit the side windscreen moulding.

8. Remove the A-pillar trim.


9. Check for leaks as follows:


• Pour water on the area where the seal has been made.

• Check that there is no leakage on the inside of the A-pillar.

10. Fit the A-pillar trim.
