On-board diagnosis
Type of diagnosis:
Enable criteria:
General conditions for this DTC |
• | Battery voltage must be between 11 - 16 V. |
• | NONE of the following DTCs must be detected: |
• | Fuel level between 2 - 53 litres. |
Fuel level over 53 litres. |
Fault criteria:
• | No change of sensor value over a distance of 25 km. |
• | No change of sensor value over a distance of 150 km. |
Dependent:
System reaction to a fault:
The control module uses a substitute value of 40 litres when fault is detected. |
OK report:
When the fault criterion is NOT fulfilled. |
Fault handling:
Type III without Check Engine. |

Checking the wiring harness
Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
Diagnostic help
Diagnosis regards:
Electrical fault in connecting leads or component. |
Sensor sticking mechanically. |
Fault in connector H42-2 is often a cause of this DTC. |
