Power Steering Pressure Switch Performance Problem

Fault symptom
No load compensation for power steering.
Higher idling speed.
On-board diagnosis
Type of diagnosis:
Enable criteria:
Battery voltage must be between 11 - 16 V.
Fault criteria:
Status change for the power steering pressure switch has occurred for a duration of 600 s when vehicle speed has been higher than 50 km/h (31 mph).
Dependent:
System reaction to a fault:
Control module continues working with the higher idling function.
OK report:
Status change for the power steering pressure switch has occurred.
Fault handling:
Type III without Check Engine.
(See section Fault handling III, "Other emission-related components and functions" for more information.)
Checking the wiring harness
Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
