Camshaft position sensor (555)
To identify the position of the camshaft in relation to the crankshaft. This allows for sequential fuel injection and ignition.

The sensor contains two hall sensors, which are positioned in such a way that they each react to their own segment of the exhaust camshaft sprocket. This is an advantage to diagnostics as information is more reliable if there are two segments to compare. The use of double hall sensors makes it possible for ECM to detect the position of the engine very quickly - right when the ignition is switched ON. As a result, the engine's crankshaft position is synchronised right from the start. The injected quantity of fuel will therefore be correct and sequential. The ignition sequence is also sequential upon start.
There are two displaced half circles on the exhaust camshaft sprocket. Cylinder 1 is 78° BTDC when the half circles meet.
