Rear crankshaft seal

To remove



1. Remove the gearbox, refer to 5-speed gearbox assembly, diesel .

2. Remove the pressure plate and clutch plate, refer to Clutch assembly, diesel .

3. Remove the flywheel, refer to Flywheel, diesel

4. Screw a self-tapping screw into the seal and remove the seal.


To fit



1. Clean off gasket remains from the sealing surfaces.

2. Lubricate the new sealing ring with acid-free vaseline and fit it to 83 95 402 Fitting tools, rear crankshaft seal .

3. Fit the seal to the crankshaft using 83 95 402 Fitting tools, rear crankshaft seal . Press in the sealing ring with the tool until it is flush with the cylinder block.

4. Fit the flywheel loosely with new bolts. Refer to Flywheel, diesel.

5. Fit the pressure plate and clutch plate. Refer to Clutch assembly, diesel .

6. Fit the gearbox. Refer to 5-speed gearbox assembly, diesel .
