Removal of right-hand torque arm


1. Place the car on a lift.

2. Raise the car.

3. Remove the torque arm.



Fitting of right-hand torque arm


1. Fit the torque arm. Thread the bolts. Tighten the bolt in the oil sump first.

Tightening torque 37 Nm (27 lbf ft)


2. Tighten the bolt securing the torque arm to the subframe.

Tightening torque 70 Nm + 90° (52 lbf ft + 90°)


Removal of left-hand torque arm


1. Set the car on a lifting platform. Raise the car.

Important

The flexible bellow on the front section of the exhaust system must not be bent more than 5° from its neutral line. This means that if the front exhaust system is left hanging freely, it must not be bent more than by its own weight.

If the strain on the pipe is too great, its component parts will be permanently deformed. This can cause noise, leaks and eventually complete breakdown.


2. Remove the nuts from the front exhaust pipe on the catalytic converter. Take the strain off the front section with 83 95 212 Strap .


3. Remove the torque arm.



Fitting of left-hand torque arm


1. Fit the torque arm. Thread the bolts. Tighten the bolt in the gearbox bracket first.

Tightening torque 70 Nm + 90° (52 lbf ft + 90°)


2. Tighten the bolt securing the torque arm to the subframe.

Tightening torque 70 Nm + 90° (52 lbf ft + 90°)

3. Fit the nuts to the front exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter with a new gasket. Lower the car.

Tightening torque 25 Nm (18 lbf ft).
