Charge air solenoid valve (179a)
The task of the solenoid valve is to convert electronic instructions from ECM to regulate a negative pressure that may affect the diaphragm in the turbocharger wastegate. The negative pressure comes from the engine's vacuum pump, which always generates a predetermined negative pressure.
A vacuum tank is connected to the solenoid valve for more exact control. The vacuum tank also provides for more reliable control at high altitudes.
The solenoid valve is grounded with a PWM pulse of 140 Hz through control module pin 13(M). The pulse ratio determines the size of the negative pressure in the hose to the turbocharger wastegate. The position of the control rod can thereby be controlled.
