The root cause was an insufficient sealing between the nipples for the
oil cooling lines and cooler.
Check Gear box Light is on & DTC P 0715 00 + P 0720 00 in TCM, also
bad shifting points, and sometimes noise when shifting gears.
Check the ATF oil quality, take a sample of ATF in a boiling tube, or
if not available use a metal spoon with a sample of fluid . Using a cigarette
lighter heat the underside the tube/spoon and after approx 30 seconds you
will see bubbles rising if there is coolant present in the ATF.
Note:
Wear eye protection to guard your eyes
from any hot oil splashes!
If you clearly have identified coolant in the ATF oil, then replace
complete transmission, and rework vehicles as described in : M I 260-2634,

Repair oil cooler with new connections,

|
Clean oil cooler hoses carefully, using compressed air,
|
•
|
Flush oil cooler with approx. 200 ml ATF oil,
|
•
|
Check if coolant has been contaminated by ATF and replace if necessary.

•
|
Erase old adaptation values in TCM and perform a new adaptation.
