Coolant in automatic transmission fluid
|
a) Always check the condition of the automatic transmission fluid and the coolant
b) In some cases diagnostic trouble code P0780-60, P0715-00 or P0720-00 is detected.
c) The production solution for oil cooler M04 is Loctite applied onto the threads and improved gasket material at the oil pipe connections. The break point is at the following chassis number:
4D: 41025888
CV: 46008366
d) M05 has a modified oil cooler. The break points are at the following chassis numbers:
4D: 51002378
CV: 56001058
Z19: 51000001

Uneven engine speed while changing gear 2-3 after driving in top gear for a longer period. The fault arises when the car reduces speed to under 20 km/h and then accelerates for changing up to gear position 3.
|
a) Check the transmission fluid level and quality.
b) Update software in TCM. (Download from IRIS)
c) M04 has a modified valve housing and new software. Modified valve housing kit M02-M03 P/N 5449780
d) Check the transmission fluid if the fault remains.

Hard gear changing when braking to stop
|
a) Compare the gearbox serial number and the software ID number and make sure that they correspond.
b) Clear the adaptation values and perform Adaptation, resetting. If the procedures do not help and the customer complaints continue, replace the gearbox.

Very hard engagement of D and R
|
a) Read the value for the temperature sensor in a cold car and check whether the value corresponds with the ambient temperature.
b) If the value differs too much, check that the temperature signal is working. c) Make sure that the wiring harnesses and connectors are working without open circuit, see link.

Noise
|
a) Determine under which conditions the noise occurs (gear position, speed, accelerator pedal position, fluid temperature)
b) Contact Saab Automobile, Front line for help. Check whether the noise is related to engine speed or vehicle speed by changing gear position.
c) Describe the character of the noise, whining sound, rattling, clicking etc.
d) Checklist, completed with gearbox replacement. See link

Diagnostic trouble codes for electrical components
|
a) Read out the diagnostic trouble codes, clear them and test drive the car.
b) Check the function of the components identified by the diagnostic trouble code by checking whether the diagnostic trouble code is repeated for a non-faulty component.
c) Check that the cables and connectors are working satisfactorily.
