Tyre pressure monitoring, TPMS, brief description
|
The tyre pressure monitoring of all four wheels is automatic. The system is activated at speeds exceeding 30 km/h.
The four tyre pressure sensors measure the tyre pressures and transmit the values via radio waves to the control module which is located inside the centre console. A sensor is mounted in each wheel rim and functions as valve, sensor and transmitter.
In order that the control module will know from which wheel a pressure sensor is transmitting, the system uses three signal detectors.
A signal detector is mounted in each of the front wheel housings and the rear RH wheel housing. The control module listens during the first few minutes to the information in order to ascertain the location of each tyre pressure sensor. The system is self-learning and thus it is possible to move the wheels without re-calibrating the control module.
The information on incorrect tyre pressure is transmitted on the I-bus. The message is used by the ICM which displays warning or alarm messages in the SID.
