Symptom: Fault indicator lamp (for further information see WIS Fault diagnosis, general) Performance loss. Cruise control not working. No A/C function.

  P0243 5A

Boost Pressure too High. Mechanical Fault.

Fault symptom

Fault indicator lamp (for further information see WIS Fault diagnosis, general)

Performance loss.

Cruise control not working.

No A/C function.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:

Continuous

Enable criteria:

Engine running.
Engine speed between 2250 and 2750 and more than 40 mg fuel/combustion.
Engine speed between 2751 and 4750 and more than 20 mg fuel/combustion.
NONE of the following DTCs must be detected:
P0101
P0244 F6, P0245, P0246
P0335, P0336, P0337
P0400, P0403, P0404
P1403, P1404
P2102
P2413

Fault criteria:

Current boost pressure exceeds requested boost pressure.
DTC limit between 25-50 kPa depending on fuel quantity and rpm.

System reaction to a fault:

Limp Home, engine torque limitation.
Output to the A/C relay is switched off.
EGR turned off in case of fault.

Diagnostic help

Diagnostics compares requested and current boost pressure. A DTC is generated if the current boost pressure is higher than the requested boost pressure.

DTC indicates mechanical fault in the turbo, an air leak between the turbo and intake, vacuum system air leak or a damaged control valve.

Air leaks between the turbocharger and the inlet can quickly cause damage to the turbocharger due to overrunning.

Diagnostic help

Diagnosis regards:

Mechanical fault in the turbo unit or air leak in the system.

Functions in the diagnostic tool related to the fault:

Test value:
Swirl Control Valve
Charge Air Control Valve
Control valve, shut-off damper
Activate:
Swirl Control Valve
