Remove the upper engine cover.

Unplug the connector from the mass air flow sensor.
|
3. |
Remove the hose from the mass air flow sensor and the intake manifold.
|
4. |
Remove the air cleaner casing.
|
5. |
Detach the vacuum pipe from the camshaft cover.
|
6. |
Detach the crankcase ventilation hoses from the camshaft cover.
|
7. |
Remove the camshaft cover.
|
8. |
Turn over the engine using a ratchet spanner on the crankshaft and check the valve clearance when the camshaft lobe is pointing up (180° from the valve stem) using a feeler gauge.

Measure and note the valve clearance of all valves in the same way.
|
10. |
The valve clearance must be adjusted if outside tolerances.
|
11. |
Adjust the valve clearance by changing the valve adjusting washers to the right thickness.
|
12. |
Make sure the camshaft lobe is pointing up (180° from the valve stem) and use
32 025 035 Valve compressor
to carefully press down the valve tappet.

Secure the valve tappet using
32 025 036 Valve fixing tool
.

15. |
Fit new washers with right thickness, turn the washer with the marking on the bottom, press down carefully with the valve compressor and remove the special tool.

16. |
Turn over the engine so that the camshaft revolves a whole turn and check that the valve clearance is correct.
|
17. |
Fit the camshaft cover with a new gasket.
Tightening torque 9 Nm (7 lbf ft). |
18. |
Fit the crankcase ventilation hoses with clips to the camshaft cover.

19. |
Fit the vacuum pipe.
|
20. |
Fit the air filter housing.
|
21. |
Fit the hose to the mass air flow sensor and the intake manifold.
|
22. |
Plug in the connector to the mass air flow sensor.
|
23. |
Fit the upper engine cover.
