CIM - DTC C0548 08 and C0549 08
Cars affected: Saab 9-3 (9440) Background: The DTCs can be generated by a voltage drop in the car, e.g. at the workshop or when instructions on battery charger use have not been followed properly. Procedure: If both DTCs have been generated, the cause is a temporary voltage drop in the electrical system. Delete the DTCs and check the function. Otherwise, follow standard fault tracing in WIS. |
5. |
CIM - DTC B3948 00
Cars affected: Saab 9-3 (9440) Background: The customer has turned in the car for a steering wheel lock fault. Procedure: The DTC is informational and is generated because another DTC is generated in SCL. If no DTC has been generated in SCL, perform a readout several times until a DTC can be read out (e.g. B1020 30, B1020 31, B1020 32 etc.). Do not replace CIM. |
6. |
ISM - Broken key catch
Cars affected: Saab 9-3 (9440) up to VIN 31007201 Background: The customer has turned in the car for a steering wheel lock fault. SID - Improved functionality of DTE
Cars affected: Saab 9-3 (9440) M05 Background: To prevent customers from running out of gas, a new action has been introduced to the DTE function. Note: For M05 cars, DTE has been changed from indicating possible distance with fuel remaining down to 0 km, to displaying a text message in SID, with advice to refuel, when DTE is below 30 km (19 miles). The text is language dependent and is available in the following variants:
This text message disappears after filling up with fuel when the DTE is calculated to be >50 km (31 miles). New software has been introduced during the course of M05 as follows:
|

ICM 3 - Display's anti-reflective coating flakes off
Cars affected: Saab 9-3 (9440) up to VIN 41018847 Background: Poor adhesion can cause the display surface to look damaged (scratched/patchy). Procedure: Replace ICM. Note: New improved ICM introduced as of VIN 41018848. |
8. |
ICM 3 navigation - Incorrect indication of position
Cars affected: Saab 9-3 (9440) Background: A hardware fault in the antenna can cause the navigation system to receive an incorrect GPS signal. The symptom is incorrect indication of car position on the screen. Procedure: Replace the GPS antenna. Note: New improved GPS antenna introduced as of VIN 41027395 (4D). |
9. |
ICM 3 - Irritating lines appear on the display

Voice control
Cars affected: Saab 9-3 (9440) M05 Background: There are two types of voice control: a. Standard (CU is the governing electronic unit) b. AVR, Advanced Voice Recognition, (ICM3 is the governing electronic unit) It is vital that the correct voice guidance parameter be selected during "Add" ICM3 and CU. Otherwise, only one unit (ICM3 or CU) is activated for voice control. If, for example, CU is set to "Standard" and ICM3 is set to "AVR" there is a conflict in the system and neither type of voice control is operable. Note: AVR language update is part of the pre-delivery inspection (PDI). |
