The car is equipped with two trumpet-type horns. One is located behind the grille under the radiator member. The other is located inside the bumper shell under the right-hand headlamp. The button for activating the horn is located in the centre of the steering wheel.
The horn switch (41) is connected to Column Integration Module (CIM) pin 6 (K(8). When the horn switch is closed, CIM pin 6 (K(8) is grounded. CIM (703) sends the message "Horn button active ON" on the I-bus. UEC (342) supplies voltage on pin 34 (F) to pin 1 of both horns via the horn relay (68).
UEC supplies voltage to the horn for a maximum of 3 minutes even if the horn button is pressed longer.
