Description

GPS (Global Positioning System), which is used by the navigation system, comprises a number of satellites that orbit the earth at an altitude of 20,200 km. Due to their comparative locations, at least four satellites are always accessible for the user on the ground. The various car systems are equipped with direction and speed sensors that are used together with GPS to calculate the car's position and navigation. Together, these make it easy for the customer to find a specific address.

In order for the system to function properly, the DVD must be inserted into the DVD player, the infotainment system must be switched on and NAV must be selected on the monitor with the control button on ICM3.

The desired destination is entered into the system using the ICM3 keypad, which also has a display screen.

The location of the destination is determined from the DVD map. The navigation unit (CU/PU) accurately calculates the car's position with help from available satellite data and the stored map information.

The navigation unit calculates distance, direction of travel and changes in direction.

Recommended route options are accompanied by visual and audible signals.

When driving, the route travelled is calculated with help from the ABS sensors and course changes are calculated with a gyroscope in the DVD player.

The system checks that the route it has selected is followed.

If the driver continues to deviate from the route, a new route recommendation will be calculated by the system.

The system confirms arrival at the destination with a voice message.
