Fault symptom
Noise from the passenger compartment caused by the selector lever cable. The noise occurs when the selector lever is in the D position, especially when the engine is cold and vibration levels are high.
Conditions
The noise occurs in cars of VIN interval 51031322 - 51043370 because they lack a clip that holds the selector lever cable to the coolant hose of the expansion tank. The noise occurs when the selector lever cable comes in contact with the wiring harness. This is then passed on to the passenger compartment via the gear cable.
Action
Fit the clip between the selector lever cable and the coolant hose near the bend of the hose toward the expansion tank.
