Shift cables, remove and install F17

Remove the air guide of the rear mixed air vent (3)
Undo the clip (4)
Remove the air guide
|

Remove the holder (1)
Disconnect the wiring harness connector (2)
Undo 2 bolts (arrows)
Important: Only open the clamping piece to the catch (5). If it is opened farther (over extended), it could be ruined.

Detach the clutch cables (2) from the gear lever unit
Detach the selector cable from the clamping piece (4)
Note: Open the clamping piece carefully with a small screwdriver

Remove the centre console left-hand front side panel.
|
|
6.
|
Remove the gaiter for the air duct.
|
|
7.
|
Undo the plastic cover for the gear lever and the rubber mat in the storage compartment and bend it up.
|
|
8.
|
Detach the cable adjusters in the gear lever housing with a screwdriver.
|
Important
|
|
Ensure that the wire adjustment is not damaged.
|
|
|
|
|
9.
|
Press the catches and detach the cable sheaths from the gear lever housing. Lift the air duct slightly with a large screwdriver when the detaching the cable sheaths.
|
|
10.
|
Detach the clutch cables (2) from the gearbox
2 times - prise loose from transfer arm KM-6042 (3)
2 times - release from support
Note: Pull back the sleeve (1) and pull the cable out of the support.

Remove the steering gaiter (4)
Detach from bulkhead wall
|
|
12.
|
Remove the clutch cables
Remove forwards
To fit
|
|
13.
|
Insert the cable through the engine bay.
|
|
14.
|
Attach the cable sheaths and cables to the gear lever housing. Fit the black and white cables on the black and white adjusters respectively.
|
|
15.
|
Fit the plastic grommet into the bulkhead wall and the rubber seal.
|
|
16.
|
Raise the car and fit the cable grommet from below. The cable must be on the left-hand side of the grommet. Fit the left torque rod. Lower the car.
Tightening torque 70 Nm +90°(52 lbf ft +90°)

17.
|
Fit the cables to the cable retainers on the gearbox by pulling back the locking sleeves. (White to lower retainer and black to upper one)
|

18.
|
Attach the cable connections to the selector arms.
|
|
19.
|
Adjust gear change. See Gear cable
|
|
20.
|
Fit the plastic cover for the gear lever and the rubber mat in the storage compartment.
|
|
21.
|
Fit the gaiter for the air duct.
|
|
22.
|
Fit the centre console left-hand front side panel.
|
|
23.
|
Check the shifting positions.
