Brief description

Gearbox

The gearbox is constructed for front-wheel drive and is assembled with the motor to form a single unit. A clutch is mounted between the engine and the gearbox and is activated hydraulically.

The power train is mounted transversely which gives good cooling and the shortest possible path for power transmission to the front wheels. This configuration also contributes to a compact engine compartment. The gearbox has 5 forward gears, all of which are fitted with synchromesh. The gearbox is filled with oil during production and no oil changes are required. The gear lever motion is transmitted to the gearbox by means of two cables. This prevents movements in the drive train from being transmitted to the gear lever and gives a sense of precision when changing gear.
