A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab garage as soon as possible to have the fault rectified.

Background |
The engine bay temperature causes the service life of the check valve on the brake servo vacuum pipe to be shortened.

Procedure |
Checking the modification identity plate (not applicable to US/CA)
Before proceeding, check box C1 of the modification identity plate. From and including M04, the table "Table of Modifications" can be found in the car's Warranty and Service Book. A modification identity plate must be fitted in accordance with the section "Fitting the modification identity plate" where local directives require the marking of the car. If the box is not marked, continue as follows.

To remove
1. |
Pump the brake pedal until the vacuum disappears from the brake servo.

2. |
Remove the pipe from the T-nipple on the vacuum pump.
|
3. |
Aut:
Remove the gear cable clip from the pipe.
|
4. |
Remove the pipe from the brake servo. Any heat shield on the check valve shall not be refitted.

To fit
1. |
Fit the pipe to the brake servo.
|
2. |
Fit the pipe to the T-nipple on the vacuum pump.
|
3. |
Aut:
Fit the gear cable clip.
|
4. |
Connect the exhaust evacuator.
|
5. |
Start the engine and check the function of the brake servo.

To remove
1. |
Pump the brake pedal until the vacuum disappears from the brake servo.

2. |
Remove the pipe from the T-nipple on the vacuum pump.
|
3. |
Aut: Remove the gear cable clip from the pipe.
|
4. |
Remove the pipe from the brake servo.
|
5. |
Remove the upper nuts to the heat shield on the bulkhead partition and fold aside the heat shield.
|
6. |
Remove the vacuum pipe. Any heat shield on the check valve shall not be refitted.

To fit
1. |
Align the pipe in position and fit it to the brake servo.
|
2. |
Fit the pipe to the T-nipple on the vacuum pump.

3. |
Aut:
Fit the gear cable clip.
|
4. |
Fit the vacuum pipe to the clips on the bulkhead partition.
|
5. |
Fit the heat shield on the bulkhead partition.
|
6. |
Connect the exhaust evacuator.
|
7. |
Start the engine and check the function of the brake servo.
|
Marking the modification identity plate (not US/CA) |
After carrying out the procedure, box C1 on the modification identity plate must be marked. From and including M04 the table "Table of Modifications" can be found in the car's Warranty and Service Book. Mark the box with the number "7" if the procedure was carried out by the importer or with the number "8" if carried out by the dealer.
