Checking body dimensions
Checking body dimensions |
When replacing bodywork details and aligning the body, it is extremely important that the mounting points for the power train subframe and body components are located in their correct positions and that door and hatch opening have the correct form.
Serious damage to the bodywork must be repaired on an alignment jig to prevent building in distortions or asymmetry. Serious damage refers mainly to deformation of the body member system. The manufacturers of alignment jigs provide these exact dimensions.
Diagonal measurements can be taken to check whether or not the use of an alignment jig is necessary. Diagonal measurements must also be taken to check for any distortion or asymmetry remaining after alignment. See Body dimensions in WIS.
