Vehicle Identification Number label replacement

Cars in stock must be rectified before delivery.

A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab garage as soon as possible to have the fault rectified.

Cars affected

Saab 9-3 CV with engine option ZT and DTH within the Vehicle Identification Number series 66100000-66105940.

Note

Some vehicles within the Vehicle Identification Number series are not affected, see separate information for affected Vehicle Identification Numbers.


Background

On account of a specification error the Vehicle Identification Number label states incorrect weight data.

Parts required

93 160 907 Cleaner agent Motip Dupli, aerosol 400 ml (sufficient for 50-100 cars)


• Cleaning agent for this measure should be ordered following normal routines.

Checking the modification identity plate

Box B3 on the modification identity plate must be checked before performing any procedures. From M04 there is the "Marking of implemented modification measures" table in the Warranty and Service Manual. In those cases where local provisions require the plate to be made on the vehicle the modification identity plate is fitted as set out in the section "Fitting the modification identity plate". If the box has not be completed, continue as follows:

Procedure


1. Wipe clean the old label using the cleaning agent. The label is located on the driver's side B-pillar.

2. Position the new label above the old, as exactly as possible.



Marking the modification identity plate

Once the procedure is finished the B3 box on the modification identity plate must be marked. From M04 there is the "Marking of implemented modification measures" table in the Warranty and Service Manual. If the procedure has been performed by the importer, mark the box with the number "7" and if performed by the dealer with the number "8".

Fitting the modification identity plate

Note

A modification identity plate shall only be fitted in cases where local provisions require marking on vehicles.
