Charge air cooler

To remove


1. Raise the car.

2. Remove the spoiler shield.

3. Lower the car.

4. Remove the Front bumper shell .

5. Remove the battery cover.

6. Remove the battery cooler pipe.


7. Remove the washer fluid filler pipe.

8. Remove Upper radiator member, B284 .

9. Remove the side covers.


10. Remove the bolts holding the desiccant container to the cooler.

11. Detach the power steering pipe from the charge air cooler.

12. Remove the upper radiator cover.

13. Detach the condenser from the charge air cooler and suspend it with a 83 95 212 Strap .


14. Remove the upper bolts of the charge air cooler.

15. Raise the car.

16. Remove the hoses from the charge air cooler.


17. Remove the charge air cooler.


To fit


1. Transfer the power steering pipe mountings and wind deflectors to the new cooler.

2. Fit the charge air cooler. Make sure the wind deflectors are positioned correctly.

3. Lower the car.

4. Fit the bolts to the charge air cooler.


5. Fit the condenser to the charge air cooler.

6. Fit the bolts on the condenser.

7. Fit the bolts holding the desiccant container to the cooler.


8. Attach the power steering pipe to the charge air cooler.

9. Raise the car.

Important

To reduce the risk of hoses mounted on the delivery side of the turbocharger coming loose due to low friction at high air pressure, the hoses and connecting pieces must be cleaned thoroughly before fitting. Use a rag dampened with 93 160 907 Motip Dupli cleaning agent to wipe clean inside the ends of the hoses. Clean the connecting pieces as well. If hose clips are rusty or damaged, they must be replaced so the correct clamping force is maintained.


10. Fit the hoses to the charge air cooler and tighten the hose clips.

11. Fit the side covers.

12. Lower the car.

13. Fit the upper radiator cover.

14. Fit Upper radiator member, B284 .

15. Fit the battery coolant pipe.


16. Fit the washer fluid filler pipe.

17. Fit the battery cover.

18. Fit the Front bumper shell .

19. Raise the car.

20. Fit the spoiler shield.

21. Lower the car.
