Remove the reversing light switch (2).

2. |
Remove the bearing housing cover (3) - see

Remove the main shaft - see

4. |
Dismantle the main shaft. See

Replace the pertinent baulk rings. |

If the synchromesh assembly has been dismantled, the following assembly procedure should be followed. |
1. |
Fit the synchromesh assembly (3) into the synchromesh sleeve (2). Fit the sliding keys (1 and 5) with the open side towards the synchromesh assembly.

Fit the synchromesh spring (4). Check that the spring is correctly installed so that the free end (arrowed) is raised above the synchromesh assembly.

3. |
If this is not the case turn the synchromesh spring over 180° and refit.

4. |
The angled end of the synchromesh spring then grips in a sliding key.

5. |
Assemble the main shaft. See

Fit the main shaft - see

7. |
Fit the bearing housing cover (2). See
Bearing housing cover gasket, replacement F 17
.

8. |
Re-fit the reversing light switch (4) to the gearbox with a new sealing ring. Tightening torque 20 Nm.

Check the gearbox oil level. See
