| 1. | Remove the reversing light switch (2).   | |
| 2. | Remove the bearing housing cover (3) - see

| 3. | Remove the main shaft - see

        . | |
| 4. | Dismantle the main shaft. See
        
         Main shaft, dismantling and assembly, F17

Replace the pertinent synchromesh assembly if necessary.

| The 5th gear synchromesh assembly is removed and fitted as described in service procedure Bearing housing, dismantling and assembling, F17 . | 
| To fit | 
| 1. | Assemble the main shaft. See

| 2. | Fit the main shaft - see
        
         Bearing housing, dismantling and assembling, F17
        
        . | |
| 3. | Fit the bearing housing cover (2). See
        
         Bearing housing cover gasket, replacement F17
        
        .   | |
| 4. | Re-fit the reversing light switch (4) to the gearbox with a new sealing ring. Tightening torque 20 Nm. | |
| 5. | Check the gearbox oil level. See
