To remove |
1. |
Raise the car.

2. |
Remove the wheel.
|
3. |
Depress the brake pedal slightly using a brake pedal clamp.
|
4. |
Remove the retaining spring (A) from the brake caliper.
|
5. |
Remove the protective covers (B) and the guide pins (C).
|
6. |
Hang up the brake caliper (A) using a cable tie.
|
7. |
Remove the outer and inner brake pads.
|
8. |
As required:
Undo the joint for the upper suspension arm and the steering swivel member sufficiently in order to access the screw for the holder.

9. |
Remove the holder from the steering swivel member (A).

To fit |
1. |
Clean the contact surfaces between the steering swivel member and the brake caliper carrier.
Fit the brake caliper holder to the steering swivel member (A). Apply 74 96 268 Thread locking adhesive to the bolts. Tightening torque 130Nm +45° (96 lbf ft +45°) |
2. |
As required:
Tighten the joint for the upper suspension arm's bracket and the steering swivel member.
Tightening torque: 125 Nm +135° (92 lbf ft +135°) |
3. |
Screw in the brake piston (A) if necessary with
89 96 969 Resetting tool (B)
and
89 96 977 Adapter (C)
.

4. |
Fit the brake pads to the holder and cut off the cable tie.
|
5. |
Fit the brake caliper with the guide pins (C) and the protective covers (B).
Tightening torque 28 Nm (21 lbf ft) |
6. |
Fit the retaining spring (A) to the brake caliper.
|
7. |
Fit the wheel
.
|
8. |
Lower the car.
|
9. |
Depress the brake pedal repeatedly in order to press out the brake piston and the handbrake self adjustment.
|
10. |
Check the operation of the foot brake and handbrake.
