Master cylinder, B284 RHD

To remove


1. Place wing covers on the front right wing.

2. Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap.

3. Raise the car.

4. Connect the brake bleeder to the air nipple on the front left wheel.


5. Open the nipple and draw out brake fluid until one of the reservoir chambers is empty.

6. Disconnect the brake bleeder and close the nipple.

7. Connect the brake bleeder to the air nipple on the front right wheel.

8. Open the nipple and draw out brake fluid until the other reservoir chamber is empty.

9. Disconnect the brake bleeder and close the nipple. Lower the car.

10. Remove the upper engine cover.

11. Undo the cable net and supply hose from the upper turbo delivery pipe.


12. Remove the upper turbo delivery pipe.

13. Empty the power steering reservoir with an oil suction device.

Important

Scrupulous cleanliness must always be observed during all work with hydraulic components.


14. Detach the tank ventilation hose and the fuel line from the power steering reservoir.


15. Detach the supply hose from the power steering reservoir.

Important

Power steering fluid must not come in contact with the belt pulley or belt.


16. Detach the power steering reservoir and move aside.

17. Manual gearbox: Detach the hose for the clutch from the brake fluid reservoir. Collect any brake fluid that runs out.


18. Detach the connector for the brake fluid reservoir level sensor and the cable from the clips on the reservoir.

19. Remove the brake pipes from the master cylinder.

20. Remove the nuts securing the master cylinder to the brake servo.

21. Remove the master cylinder.

22. When changing: Remove the locking bolt from the brake fluid reservoir and detach the reservoir from the cylinder.


To fit


1. When changing: Fit the brake fluid reservoir onto the master cylinder.

2. Fit the master cylinder. Secure with Thread locking adhesive, Loctite 242 . Make sure the pushrod on the master cylinder is positioned on the brake servo pushrod.

Tightening torque 25 Nm (18 lbf ft)


3. Fit the brake pipes to the master cylinder.

Tightening torque: 16 Nm (12 lbf ft)

4. Manual gearbox: Connect the hose from the main clutch cylinder to the reservoir.

5. Plug in the connector to the level sensor and attach the cable to the clips.

6. Fit the power steering reservoir.


7. Fit the supply hose to the power steering reservoir.

8. Fit the tank ventilation hose and the fuel hose to the power steering reservoir clip.

9. Fit the upper turbo delivery pipe.


10. Fit the cable net and supply hose to the turbo delivery pipe.

11. Fit the upper engine cover.

12. Fill with servo fluid as specified.

13. Fill with brake fluid and bleed the brakes .
