Symptom: Malfunction Indicator Lamp Cruise control not working. Message appears in display. TCS/ESP lamp light in dashboard.

Fault symptom

Malfunction Indicator Lamp

Cruise control not working.

Message appears in display.

TCS/ESP lamp light in dashboard.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:

Continuous

Enable criteria:

Battery voltage must be between 10 - 18 V.
Engine speed more than 1640 rpm for more than 5 seconds.

Fault criteria:

No or faulty vehicle speed signal from TCS/ESP.

System reaction to a fault:

Cruise control blocked.
The control module uses the signal from the right rear wheel sensor for continued function.

Fault handling:

Type III

Checking the wiring harness

Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
